White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt announced that on December 1, President Trump met with his national security team to address the situation in Venezuela, along with other issues. Sources familiar with the matter said the Oval Office meeting included Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and several senior officials.
Leavitt declined to comment on whether President Trump had made any “final decisions” regarding Venezuela, stressing that she would “certainly not reveal specific details of the meeting.” However, she did not rule out the possibility of U.S. troop deployment to Venezuela. “The President has many options to consider, and I will let him speak about those options himself,” she said.

In early September, the U.S. military launched an anti-drug operation in the Caribbean Sea and deployed a significant force to the area, raising concerns that Washington may be preparing to overthrow Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro’s government. Leavitt again emphasized that the President is reviewing multiple options and will address them personally.
The U.S. military’s increased presence in the region has fueled speculation about potential intervention, as the anti-drug campaign continues to expand near Venezuelan waters.
