During a meeting with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman at the White House on November 18, ABC News reporter Mary Bruce asked President Donald Trump about allegations that his family engaged in improper business transactions in the Middle East. Bruce also pressed the Crown Prince, asking: “U.S. intelligence believes you were involved in the killing of a journalist, and families of the victims of the 9/11 attacks are very upset that you are present in the Oval Office. Why should Americans trust you?”

President Trump angrily cut her off, saying, “ABC spreads fake news and is one of the worst outlets in the media.” “I have nothing to do with my family’s business,” Trump declared.
The CIA previously assessed that Crown Prince Mohammed was involved in the 2018 killing of Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi. However, Trump supported the Crown Prince’s denial of that assessment. “You don’t need to embarrass our guest by asking such questions,” he said.
Reporter Bruce then asked about the scandal involving Jeffrey Epstein, the sex-offender billionaire who died by suicide in jail in 2019. Trump and Epstein were once friends but fell out in 2004 due to a real-estate dispute. “I’m not bothered by your question, but by your attitude. I think you’re a terrible reporter,” President Trump said. “I have nothing to do with Jeffrey Epstein. This scandal is a hoax, and your network is one of the culprits.”
Trump said ABC News “should have its license revoked for spreading fake and misleading news” and urged FCC leadership to look into the matter. He then pointed at reporter Bruce and said, “Don’t ask anything else.”
