Politico reported on December 9 that President Trump said:
“Russia has the advantage on the ground. That has been true from the beginning — they are much larger and stronger. I admire Ukraine’s courage, but at some point, size determines the outcome. Ukraine lost territory long before I took office. They lost a stretch of coastline and many valuable regions.”

According to President Trump, European nations are spending too much time discussing the war in Ukraine without delivering practical solutions.

“They talk too much but produce no results. They talk but don’t act, and the Ukraine conflict keeps dragging on,” Trump criticized.

Shortly after, a spokesperson for UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer rejected Trump’s remarks that Europe “talks a lot and does little.”

“I disagree with the U.S. President’s statement. People can see how many countries are participating in the discussions within the ‘coalition of goodwill.’ They can also see what Europe has done in pushing sanctions, including those targeting Russia’s ‘shadow fleet,’” the spokesperson said.

The UK official also emphasized that London and the rest of Europe continue to strongly support the peace plan for Ukraine proposed by the United States.
