In a post on Truth Social on November 15, U.S. President Donald Trump accused Republican congresswoman Marjorie Greene of Georgia of “betraying the party” and labeled her a “phony and incompetent politician.”
“‘Traitor’ Marjorie Greene is a disgrace to our great Republican Party,” he wrote in a follow-up post.
Greene later said that private security companies had contacted her to warn about her personal safety. She added that she was facing a wave of threats allegedly incited by “the most powerful man in the world.” Once a prominent figure in Trump’s “Make America Great Again” (MAGA) movement, Greene lost the president’s endorsement on November 14 after she began distancing herself from him amid criticism of rising living costs in the U.S. and controversies tied to billionaire sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Despite previously presenting herself as a staunch Trump supporter, Greene has increasingly disagreed with the president on several issues. On November 10, Trump publicly expressed disappointment in her for the first time, saying she had “lost her way.” The rift marks a significant fracture within the MAGA movement, especially with just one year left before the midterm elections. Greene’s sudden shift sparked speculation that she might be considering a 2028 presidential run, though she has denied this.
One of the most sensitive issues driving Greene’s criticism of Trump involves the Epstein scandal. Known for advocating justice for Epstein’s victims, she recently became one of the few MAGA members to support a vote demanding the release of documents related to the investigation.
In her November 15 post, Greene again referenced the matter. “As a woman, I do not take threats from men lightly. I now have a deeper understanding of the fear and pressure felt by the women who were victims of Epstein and his associates,” she wrote.
