Trump landed at Kuala Lumpur International Airport early this morning after a 23-hour flight from Washington. Stepping off Air Force One, he was greeted on the red carpet by Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
On the sidelines of the red carpet, a group of performers dressed in colorful costumes representing Malaysia’s main ethnic groups danced to traditional music. In response, Trump smiled, waved, and even joined in with a few playful dance moves, drawing cheers from those present.
During his two-day visit to Malaysia (October 26–27), President Trump will attend several ASEAN Summit events, witness the signing of a trade agreement with Malaysia, and take part in a peace deal ceremony to end the Thailand–Cambodia border conflict.
In a post on Truth Social prior to his arrival, Trump described the accord as a “great peace deal that I am proud to have brokered between Cambodia and Thailand.” He added that the signing would take place shortly after his arrival “to make it convenient for everyone attending this major event.”
The signing was originally scheduled for late October 26, but was reportedly moved earlier at the request of Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, following the passing of Thailand’s Queen Mother Sirikit on October 25.
After Malaysia, Trump will travel to Japan on October 27 to meet new Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi on October 28. Takaichi is expected to reaffirm plans to boost Japan’s defense spending and invest $550 billion in the U.S. in exchange for tariff benefits.
The President will then continue to South Korea on October 29, where he will meet President Lee Jae-myung and attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit.
The highlight of the trip will be Trump’s meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping in South Korea on October 30 — a pivotal moment that could determine whether the two nations end or escalate the ongoing trade war. Trump recently announced additional tariffs on Chinese imports and had threatened to cancel the meeting, but later reversed his decision.
